Council’s Ageing Well Committee members, Liz Seeliger and Jenny Enever are starting another amazing exercise program for seniors in the Federation Council with aqua exercise starting at the Corowa Aquatic Centre.

Liz has been running gentle exercise classes in Mulwala and Savernake and Jenny at Howlong for the last few years and have had great results with their participants. These classes will continue, with the aqua exercise as another way to assist people to age well in the Federation Council.

The low-cost aqua exercise classes, supported by Murrumbidgee Local Health District, will run each Tuesday at 10 am and Friday at 2:45 pm. Entry to the Aquatic Centre is $5.50 (for pensioners) and participants are asked to bring a gold coin to cover the cost of the class.

Trained volunteer leader, Liz Seeliger said she is excited to launch an aqua exercise program for people seniors at the Corowa Aquatic Centre.

“I am thrilled to be launching this program at the Corowa Aquatic Centre to assist people to age well in the Federation Council area”, said Liz. “Everyone is welcome to come and join in, and work at their own pace and fitness.”

After the success of the Gentle Exercise Program in Howlong, Jenny Enever is keen to begin her Aqua exercise at Corowa and then once the Howlong Pool opens in December, transfer to the outdoor Howlong pool.

“People don’t need to be able to swim to join this class, and we have swim belts available to help people float,” said Jenny. “The ramp into the pool at the Corowa Aquatic Centre also makes getting in and out of the pool comfortable and safe.”

Aquatic exercise can also have several health benefits, such as improved heart health, reduced stress, and improved muscular endurance and strength. Exercising in the water can be a great way to include physical activity into your life. It may also be a beneficial way for older adults to stay active.

Liz will be taking the Tuesday class at 10 am and Jenny the Friday class at 2:45pm. Contact Jenny on 0439117087 or Liz on 0425848618 or the Corowa Aquatic Centre for more information.
